PASSION FOR HELPING YOUTH
Alana Beasley brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for helping young people to her role as WRAD’s assertive youth worker.
She is now studying her Diploma of Community Services (Alcohol and Other Drugs) through Odyssey House.
“I’ve always had an interest in youth, as is evidenced by my degrees,” Alana said.
“I want to help young people reach their full potential.”
Alana has embraced WRAD’s culture and the concept of working across various agencies and health services to ensure young people get the services and support they need.
“We aim to work together to as a community to provide these services. For example, part of my role involves working with Headspace one day per week,” she said.
Alana also provides outreach services to the WAVE School, Brauer College, Warrnambool College and Corangamite Shire. She is able to travel to rural areas and is based one day per week in Terang.
The role also involves close liaison with other WRAD staff and programs. “I work with clients to look after their best interests and help them to achieve what they want to achieve,” she said.
“I like the one-on-one interaction with young people and in many cases I can refer them to other WRAD programs for support.”
