is a joint project being delivered by WRAD and Brophy Family and Youth Services on behalf of the Great South Coast Alcohol and Drug Treatment Services.
DARE is funded by State Government on an ongoing basis, combining new funding with existing AOD funding. This service is an extension of existing AOD frameworks and will complement and incorporate youth and young adult services.
DARE is an early intervention alcohol and drug program operating throughout Warrnambool and surrounding areas with the view of extending into Corangamite and Southern Grampians regions in September 2016.
This program is available to young people between the ages of 12-25 who are at risk or in early stages of substance use. Services will be delivered individually, through group work or as adventure based interventions.
Direct referral into program is available using the DARE referral form. Parental consent must be obtained for young people under 16 years on referral. Assessments will be completed by the AOD team.
DARE also has the capacity to provide secondary consult and joint case management of clients. Internal and external referrals will be accepted. Youth related agency training opportunities and capacity building will be a feature of the new service.
The service delivery is designed to be flexible, responsive and to respond to an identified target gap in current service provision.
